EcoLogic Solutions, Inc., a leading manufacturer and supplier of environmentally preferable cleaning chemicals and technologies for commercial users, today received the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s highest honor — the 2012 E.P.A. Environmental Quality Award.
The prestigious award is given annually to a select number of individuals, companies, and organizations that have “significantly contributed to improving environmental quality” throughout New York State. EcoLogic Solutions is the first green chemical company in New York to ever receive the award.
Based in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, EcoLogic Solutions has helped more than 1,000 restaurants, offices, schools, and hotels green their cleaning operations with the company’s full line of non-toxic, bio-based chemicals and game-changing ECA technology that allows users to produce their own cleaners and sanitizers using only tap water, salt, and small doses of electricity.
“We are humbled by this award, and hugely appreciative of the E.P.A. for shining a ‘green light’ on the many people who make New York a healthier, more sustainable place,” said EcoLogic CEO Anselm Doering. “In truth, the real honor should go to our customers — the chefs and janitors and maintenance supervisors who have decided to clean without compromising human health or the environment.”
At the center of the company’s sustainability efforts is their ECA (Electro-Chemical Activation) technology, which takes tap water, adds salt, and then passes the brine solution through low-dose electrolyzing chambers that split the liquid into a sodium hydroxide formula (eWater) for all-purpose cleaning and a hypochlorous acid mixture (SANeWater) for sanitizing and disinfecting.
Produced on-site for less than a penny per gallon, ECA detergents and sanitizers are up to 80 times more effective than bleach, yet safe to humans and aquatic life. Satisfied users of the EcoLogic ECA technology include Whole Foods Market and The Greenwich Country Day School.
Doering founded EcoLogic Solutions in 2003 after walking into a NY Thruway restroom and seeing a poster that bragged the facility was “Proud to be Cleaned by Lysol.” That night he drew up plans for a company that would provide commercial facilities with non-toxic, earth-friendly cleaning options.
Since then, he’s built the company into a multi-million dollar business and certified B-Corporation with a client base that includes Whole Foods Market, Chipotle, conEdison, NBC Universal, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, and the Statue of Liberty.
